The aim of this Call for Expressions of Interest is to select one or more partners to support the strategic photovoltaic panel recycling sector in the region.

Context

The ecological and energy transition requires responsible management of the entire life cycle of green technologies, including those designed to produce renewable energy. In this context, the recycling of photovoltaic panels represents a major strategic challenge for limiting the environmental impact of the solar industry, preserving natural resources and reinforcing industrial sovereignty.

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, with its innovative industrial ecosystem, expertise in materials chemistry, environmental engineering and technological innovation, has strong potential for structuring and contributing to the regional photovoltaic panel recycling industry.environmental engineering and technological innovation, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region has great potential for structuring and contributing to a regional photovoltaic panel recycling industry. This would enable us to meet several key challenges: recovery of critical materials (silicon, silver, aluminum, glass, etc.), development of the circular economy, innovation, creation of local jobs that cannot be relocated, and anticipation of the end-of-life of fast-growing solar installations.

Objectives of the AMI

Identify a group of players interested in contributing to the challenges associated with the end-of-life of photovoltaic panels, their collection, reprocessing and the recovery of the waste resulting from this reprocessing.
Set up an industry agreement that reconciles environmental imperatives, technological innovation and economic development, in order to implement one or more stages in the value chain for the reprocessing of waste from the dismantling of photovoltaic panels.
Develop concrete solutions for the collection, dismantling and recovery of materials, and their reintegration into new production lines, ideally for new panels produced in part in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region or in France.
Structure a targeted industry agreement, with clear objectives, progressive actions and visible results in the short term, so that a viable economic activity from the photovoltaic panel recycling value chain can eventually exist in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The agreement will bring together manufacturers, regional innovation players, laboratories and technical centers.

The following are eligible

Players in the sector concerned, such as: clusters, federations, laboratories, trade associations, professional branches, companies, technical centers, etc.
These same players having identified specific problems in the sector and clear courses of action.

Calendar

AMI applications until 30/01/2026
Auditions and selection: as required
Working meetings to draw up the industry agreement and define the actions to be taken.
Implementation of the industry agreement: 18 months from the grant award date.
