Lhyfe lays the 1st stone of its largest French green hydrogen production site at SLS Actiparc
A Tenerrdis member and pioneer in the production of green, renewable hydrogen for mobility and industry, Lhyfe kicked off construction of its new plant on October 18 at Le Cheylas, on the site of SLS Actiparc, another cluster member.
Lhyfe has officially started construction of its green hydrogen production plant on the SLS Actiparc Sillon Alpin business park (Le Cheylas).
This site, named "Lhyfe Le Cheylas", will have a production capacity of 4 t / day (corresponding to an installed electrolysis capacity of 10 MW) to meet the demand of a particularly dynamic local market. This capacity will make it Lhyfe's largest site in France.
A "pure player" and pioneer in green hydrogen, Lhyfe produces its hydrogen by electrolysis of water, using electricity from renewable sources supplied by national producers. The company has already set up four production sites: three in France and one in Germany. Lhyfe Le Cheylas will be the first plant in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
Decarbonizing mobility and industry in a pioneering green hydrogen region
The green hydrogen produced by Lhyfe has two purposes: to decarbonize heavy, intensive transport and industry.
As France's leading industrial region in terms of employment, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes is at the forefront of hydrogen deployment for mobility and industry in Europe.
It launched its first projects in 2017, including the Zero Emission Valley project, supported by the Region and implemented by our member HYmpulsion, and IMAGHyNE in 2024. The latter project, in which Lhyfe and Tenerrdis are partners, aims to develop a renewable, low-carbon hydrogen economy in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on a large scale, fully integrated into the energy system and meeting the needs of sectors with high CO2 emissions.
In November 2023, Lhyfe and HYmpulsion announced that the green hydrogen produced at the Le Cheylas site would supply HYmpulsion's hydrogen stations in the Alps with a volume of 600 tonnes per year (i.e. around 1.6 t / day, after a ramp-up period) over a total period of 10 years. 6 stations have already been inaugurated across the HYmpulsion network, and 7 others are currently under construction.
With a total production capacity of 4 metric tons per day, Lhyfe will also be able to meet the significant needs of the region's manufacturers, replacing grey hydrogen and natural gas in particular, in sectors such as metallurgy, microelectronics, chemicals...
