AMHY project: accelerating hydrogen training in Grenoble
Tenerrdis is taking part in the AMHY project as part of a consortium of 8 players, with the aim of designing training courses to meet the needs of the hydrogen industry over a 5-year period.
Context
At industrial level, the French hydrogen industry has a number of strengths in buoyant segments, from the manufacture of strategic materials and components, the operation of hydrogen production equipment including electrolyzers, to the operation of specialized equipment for hydrogen transport and distribution (compressors, tanks, liquefaction tubes and units, stations).
In the AURA region, the industry's needs over the next 3 years can be extrapolated to 1,500 jobs directly related to hydrogen. The development of the hydrogen business will lead to an increase in skills and new needs, particularly in sectors such as energy. Skills will therefore extend from operators and technicians to engineers and PhD researchers.
Academic training programs are still inadequate, as they are too general, too short and not practical enough, with hydrogen-related inputs insufficiently integrated or not visible enough. As a result, it is still difficult to measure a "base" of skills and to "calibrate" candidates.
When it comes to continuing training, the sector's industrialists point to difficulties in identifying the right courses, and deplore the fact that the level of training is ill-adapted or the content unsatisfactory (safety and prevention, etc.). The need for engineers and technicians is the primary demand of companies, but the attractiveness of these courses to younger people is fundamental.
In this context, the aim of the project is to support the development of the hydrogen sector for energy and electricity storage, as well as for use in low-carbon industry. The training courses proposed in this project are in line with France 2030 priorities:
- Becoming a leader in green hydrogen
- Decarbonizing industry
The project
The AMHY project will accelerate the transformation of existing training courses for technicians, masters and engineers, both in initial training and apprenticeships, as well as vocational training for employees and jobseekers. Emphasis will be placed on apprenticeship training, as companies have complained of a lack of work-study training.
5.6M budget 8 partners
10,000 jobs expected in France by 2030
The AMHY project is structured around five actions:
- Develop networking between industry partners.
- Enhance teaching platforms for hands-on learning through the purchase of scientific devices.
- Structure an initialtraining program.
- Accelerate the creation of vocational training courses.
- Increase the attractiveness of the industrial sector and facilitate career guidance for young people.
