Fundraising: French Tech fuelled by AI and Cleantech in the 1st half of the year

In the1st half of 2024, French Tech demonstrated stability in terms of fundraising
(€4.2 billion in financing) compared with the1st half of 2023 (€4.5 billion). Investments are almost back to their level of the1st half of 2021 (€5.1 bn), a year of rebound after the economic downturn in 2020, but remain well down on the historic1st half of 2022 (€8.9 bn).
The average ticket in France rose by 11% to €10 million, driven by a number of major deals. Deeptech start-ups developing disruptive artificial intelligence (AI) technologies continued to do well (+51% of amounts raised in Europe and +121% in France), and more specifically generative AI. It was also a good year for start-ups developing sustainable technologies (energy / Cleantech). These investments confirm the continuing appeal of strategic innovations within the European and French ecosystems. Over the past 6 months, the software and healthcare sectors have also performed well in France, and fintech has made a strong comeback in Europe. In the1st half of the year, France took second place on the European podium, after the United Kingdom and ahead of Germany.
